Tips For Writing Your Articles

Sitting down to write a keyword rich article for your website, blog or for submission into an article directory isn’t always the easiest thing to, especially if you aren’t an avid writer, or aren’t sure how to properly structure your message.

Here are a few tips to help you get started:

Write what you know
The best articles are written by those who are familiar with the subject at hand. While research is often part of the writing process regardless of experience, having knowledge of your topic will make it easier for you to write informative, high quality articles that make sense to those reading them, and help them solve a problem or learn more about your subject matter.

Keep It Straight Forward
Try to avoid using jargon and words that may confuse your readers, especially if they are new to your subject matter. Keep it simple and entertaining, so you don’t lose them in the process.

Action!
Use action verbs and be as direct as possible when writing your articles. Prompt your reader to click on your bio/resource box links to find out more information. Always remember to use a call to action at the end of your article.

Be Specific
Don’t generalize, or write with a vague, confusing style. Be specific and to the point so they know exactly what you mean, and aren’t left pondering or guessing what you were trying to say. Write in short, concise sentences that drive your message across and encourage thorough reading from start to finish.

Tell A Story

One of the most interesting styles when used in article drafts are those written by people who weave a story into their message. Rather than reading long, endless information, telling a story will keep your readers intrigued and interested in what you have to say, since everyone who starts a story wants to see how it ends.

Watch Your Fingers!
It’s easy to drone on endlessly once you get started, so be careful to eliminate ‘noise’ and keep your article trimmed of any un-needed fat. You want a slim, direct article that gives your readers good information without giving everything away. After all, the point of article marketing is to lure your readers into visiting your websites or blogs, so you always want to ensure you leave them wanting more.

It Pays To Be Pretty
Using bullet points and appropriate page breaks is important if you want to make it easier for your visitors to read. Adding images to your article can add to the quality and make reading it more enjoyable.

Of course, if you want to become a skilled writer, the old saying “practice makes perfect” definitely applies. The more often you write, the better your writing will be. Take an hour a day to write a couple of articles and before too long, you will find it easier (and faster) to spin out dozens of high quality, interesting and well written articles ready for submission.

(And after awhile, you just might find that you enjoy doing it :)
